LOS ANGELES, June 28 (UPI) -- Sunday's live premiere of the 2011 BET Awards in Los Angeles drew 7.7 million total viewers, the cable network said.
The show was the second-highest rated program in BET history, after the 2009 BET Awards honoring Michael Jackson just days after the pop star died, BET said Monday.
This year's event saw Chris Brown win a leading four awards. It also featured performances and appearances by Justin Bieber, Hosea Chanchez, Diddy-Dirty Money, Drake, Pooch Hall, Steve Harvey, Taraji P. Henson, Alicia Keys, Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj, Tracee Ellis Ross, Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Kerry Washington.
