No second season for MTV's 'Skins'

NEW YORK, June 9 (UPI) -- MTV says it has no plans to renew for a second season its controversial Americanized version of British television's "Skins."

The Hollywood Reporter said the show about sexually active teens saw a steep decline in its ratings after it premiered in January.

"'Skins' is a global television phenomenon that, unfortunately, didn't connect with a U.S. audience as much as we had hoped," UsMagazine.com quoted an MTV representative as saying. "We admire the work that the series' creator Bryan Elsley did in adapting the show for MTV, and appreciate the core audience that embraced it."
