NEW YORK, June 8 (UPI) -- Chris Brown and Jill Scott are to join the previously announced Alicia Keys as performers for this year's BET Awards show in Los Angeles, organizers said.

Brown leads the field with nominations in six categories.

Scott, an R&B superstar, poet, and actress, is set to release her fifth studio album "Light of the Sun" this month.

The 2011 BET Awards ceremony is to be presided over by comedian Kevin Hart. It will air live on the cable network June 26 from the Shrine Auditorium.
