HOLLYWOOD, June 4 (UPI) -- Katie Couric will announce next week that she has struck a deal with Disney/ABC for a new talk show to debut next year, sources told The Hollywood Reporter.

The Reporter said Saturday that Couric will also be a contributor to the ABC News division in addition to the syndicated talk program that will start in September 2012.

The deal brings Couric, who last month wrapped up her five-year stint as anchor of the "CBS Evening News" to ABC, which had been the home base of daytime talk queen Oprah Winfrey.

The talk show will have former NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Zucker as its executive producer and will be a mix of feature stories and interviews. News content will be fairly light so that episodes will be suitable for reruns.

Sources said Couric will have an ownership stake in the venture. Her role with ABC News will not be limited to any one show and will require a minimal financial commitment by the network.

Television analysts told The Reporter that Couric's skill as an interviewer will be a solid asset; however they noted that other celebrities have tried the daytime talk route and met with mixed success.
