NEW YORK, May 11 (UPI) -- David Letterman weighed in on the U.S. daytime TV shakeup with a "Late Show" Top 10 list called "Reasons Meredith Vieira is Leaving the 'Today' show."

Vieira, who replaced Katie Couric as "Today" co-anchor five years ago, recently announced she is leaving the morning program. Ann Curry is to replace her in June.

Couric also confirmed she has quit her position as host of the CBS Evening News, effective next month. Scott Pelley is taking over her position.

Letterman weighed in on the personnel changes during Monday night's broadcast of "Late Show."

His Top 10 list of "Reasons Meredith Vieira is Leaving the 'Today' show" read as follows --

10. Could no longer handle short work day and big paycheck.

9. Exhausted from carrying one NBC show people still watch.

8. Wanted in several missing tourist cases.

7. Only so many times you can learn secrets to making chilled summer soups.

6. Still suffers post-traumatic stress disorder from years at "The View."

5. Steroids.

4. Starting her own cable channel called the Oprah Winfrey Network.

3. Cash-strapped NBC has been paying everyone in True Value Hardware coupons.

2. Can't act like she gives a crap where in the world Matt Lauer is.

1. Forced out by ["Tonight Show" host Jay] Leno.
