McGill University to honor Shatner

MONTREAL, May 7 (UPI) -- Canada's McGill University says it plans to present Montreal-born actor William Shatner with an honorary doctorate next month.

Shatner, 80, is best known for his work in the "Star Trek" franchise, as well as the TV shows "T.J. Hooker," "Boston Legal" and "$#*! My Dad Says."

The [Montreal] Gazette said the actor graduated from McGill in 1952 with a commerce degree.

He is to be presented with an honorary doctorate at the university's graduation ceremonies for the faculty of arts June 2, the newspaper said.
