LOS ANGELES, May 2 (UPI) -- U.S. broadcast networks interrupted their regularly scheduled programming Sunday night to air news coverage of Osama bin Laden's death.

President Barack Obama was scheduled to hold a news conference at 10:30 p.m. EDT Sunday but it was delayed until 11:35 p.m. Networks began pre-empting their programs, including the broadcast of "The Celebrity Apprentice" on NBC, to report ahead of confirmation that U.S. forces had killed bin Laden in Pakistan.

The Hollywood Reporter noted the interruption occurred one night after Obama teased "Apprentice" star Trump about his show and possible run for president in 2012 at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner in Washington.

The coincidence of Obama getting the best of Trump again was not lost on comedian and talk-show host Jimmy Fallon.

"Got Bin Laden AND interrupted Celebrity Apprentice? Win for Obama all around," Fallon joked via Twitter.

NBC said the episodes of "America's Next Great Restaurant" and "The Celebrity Apprentice" that were supposed to air Sunday night on the West Coast were made available in their entirety on NBC.com Monday.
