NEW YORK, April 30 (UPI) -- Sources say NBC will announce Meredith Vieira's departure from the "Today" show as early as next week, Parade magazine said Saturday.

The Web site said an earlier report from People magazine pegged Vieira's departure coming in June, three months before the end of her contract.

The move is part of a major shuffling of the faces on "Today" that includes moving news anchor Ann Curry into the spot on the sofa Vieira has occupied since 2006.

Sources said Vieira wanted to end her stint on the early morning program and move on to something that would not require her to be on the set every day.
