TORONTO, April 16 (UPI) -- Charlie Sheen scoffed at the notion of being bipolar during an impromptu benefit walk for the disorder prior to his one-man stage show in Toronto.
A fairly large group gathered outside Sheen's hotel Friday in response to Twitter messages the mercurial actor sent out earlier in the day, The Hollywood Reporter said.
"I was called bipolar. You guys, I'm bi-winning right? I'm not sure what bipolar even means. It's a psychiatric opinion, which means that to me it's rooted in judgment," Sheen told fans outside the Ritz-Carlton.
The Toronto Star said fans who responded to the tweets appeared evenly divided over whether Sheen was bipolar or merely eccentric. Mental health professionals said they appreciated Sheen raising awareness of bipolar disorder but hoped he would not diminish its seriousness.
