SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 15 (UPI) -- Nickelodeon says it has ordered a fifth season of its U.S. comedy series "iCarly."

The new season is slated to begin in 2012.

"Our audience will be psyched to get more of what they love -- new episodes of their favorite show, 'iCarly,'" Marjorie Cohn, Nickelodeon's president of original programming and development, said in a statement Thursday. "We are excited to see what Dan Schneider will do next with our favorite characters."

"iCarly" stars Miranda Cosgrove as a teen with her own Web series. The cast also includes Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Kress, Noah Munck and Jerry Trainor.
