LOS ANGELES, March 29 (UPI) -- Mystery writers Michael Connelly and Dennis Lehane are to guest star on an episode of the U.S. police dramedy series, "Castle," ABC announced.

"Castle" is about what happens when crime novelist Richard Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, teams up with Kate Beckett, a New York City police detective played by Stana Katic, to solve homicide cases.

Connelly and Lehane are to appear on the April 11 episode of the show.

"When a champion swimmer and Olympic hopeful is found dead in a training pool, Castle and Beckett dive in to investigate his murder, and uncover myriad secrets that might have led to his death," ABC said in a news release Monday. "Also in the episode, crime fiction authors Michael Connelly and Dennis Lehane guest star, offering Castle their insights into the case over a game of poker."

Connelly's books include "The Lincoln Lawyer" and "Blood Work."

Lehane wrote "Mystic River," "Gone Baby Gone" and "Shutter Island."
