LOS ANGELES, March 26 (UPI) -- Katee Sackhoff moves from outer space to the wide open spaces with a leading role in the A&E pilot "Longmire," the network said.
Sackhoff comes off her stint as Capt. Starbuck on "Battlestar Galactica" to play a deputy sheriff solving crimes alongside Wyoming lawman Walt Longmire.
"Longmire" is based on the series of mystery books written by Craig Johnson with Sheriff Walt as the main sleuth, The Hollywood Reporter said Saturday.
Sackhoff will appear opposite Robert Taylor, who plays Longmire. Also in the cast are Lou Diamond Phillips and Bailey Chase.
Since "Battlestar Galactica" ended in 2009, Sackhoff has had television roles in CBS's "CSI" and Fox's "24."
