Rita Wilson lands 'SVU' guest spot

NEW YORK, March 24 (UPI) -- U.S. actress and producer Rita Wilson has landed a guest-starring role on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," NBC said Thursday.

Her episode is scheduled to air in May.

Wilson will play Bree Mazelon, the protective mother of a teenager under investigation in the installment titled "Delinquent."

"A few years ago, I saw Rita Wilson give a riveting performance playing the mother of child with ADD in the play 'Distracted,' and I knew she'd be a wonderful guest star for 'SVU.' Rita will be playing a mother struggling to care for her seriously disturbed child and we know the episode will be truly memorable," Executive Producer Neal Baer said in a statement.

Wilson recently guest-starred on two episodes of CBS's "The Good Wife." Her film credits include "It's Complicated," "The Bonfire of the Vanities," "Sleepless in Seattle," "Mixed Nuts," "Runaway Bride," "The Story of Us," "My Life in Ruins" and "Old Dogs."
