Quinn to co-star in 'Prime Suspect'

LOS ANGELES, March 3 (UPI) -- Actor Aidan Quinn has been cast in the U.S. re-make of the iconic British drama series, "Prime Suspect," Deadline reported Thursday.

Quinn is to play the squad commander of Maria Bello's police detective character, Jane Timoney. The new show is set in New York.

The original series took place in London and Manchester, and ran from 1991 to 2006. It starred Helen Mirren in the role of Jane.

Quinn's film credits include "Unknown," "Desperately Seeking Susan," "Legends of the Fall," "Benny & Joon," "Michael Collins" and "This Is My Father."

He also starred in the short-lived series "The Book of Daniel" and "Canterbury's Law."
