SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Comic actor Jack Black is to serve as host of the 2011 Kids' Choice Awards show in Los Angeles, Nickelodeon said Thursday.

The fan-voted prize presentation is to take place April 2 at the Galen Center at USC. It will honor celebrities from music, TV, sports and film.

Black served as emcee of the show in 2006 and 2008.

"Jack Black is the perfect mix of comedy, rock and star-power that will set the tone for an amazing show," Marjorie Cohn, president of original programming and development, said in a statement Thursday.

Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group and the executive producer of the show added: "Jack is always an exciting host because of his unpredictability, incredible comedic timing and ability to connect with our audience. We're really excited to have him back."

Black's film credits include "Kung Fu Panda," "King Kong" and "High Fidelity."
