LOS ANGELES, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- British music executive and TV personality Simon Cowell says he will be one of the judges on the U.S. version of the U.K. series "The X Factor."

Cowell is best known in the United States as one of the judges on "American Idol."

He left at the end of last season of "Idol" to focus on the Americanized version of the talent show "The X Factor," which he also produces, along with the British edition.

"Once the show goes into production, I become a judge," People.com said Cowell told reporters Monday. "Then I have to put my trust into the producers' hands, which is effectively how it works in the U.K. Yes, I am judging."

Cowell kept mum about who else might join him on the judges' panel, however, People.com said.

Asked if his fellow former "Idol" judge Paula Abdul might secure a spot on his new show, Cowell said: "I'm a massive fan of Paula. We honestly haven't made our mind up yet. … We're talking to a number of people. We hope to make an announcement in three to four weeks."
