LOS ANGELES, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Charlie Sheen, who is undergoing outpatient treatment for drug addiction, has issued a statement thanking his bosses and fans for their support.
Sheen, 45, sought help for his substance abuse problem after he was hospitalized last month, reportedly after a night of heavy drinking and drug use in the company of several porn actresses.
His sitcom "Two and a Half Men" has been placed on hiatus while he undergoes treatment.
"I have a lot of work to do to be able to return the support I have received from so many people," TMZ quoted Sheen as saying Wednesday in his first statement since seeking help for his addictions. "I want to say 'thank you' to my fellow cast members, the crew of 'Two and a Half Men,' and everyone at CBS and Warner Bros., especially Les Moonves and Bruce Rosenblum, for their concern and support. ... And to my fans, your good wishes have touched me very much. Like Errol Flynn, who had to put down his sword on occasion, I just want to say, 'thank you.'"
Flynn was a popular Australian movie actor with a reputation for hard drinking and womanizing. He died of a heart attack in 1959 at the age of 50.
