NEW YORK, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- MTV says 8.45 million total viewers tuned in for the Season 3 premiere of its reality series "Jersey Shore."

The show about a group of young people with outrageous personalities sharing a home in Seaside Heights, N.J., returned for its third season Thursday night.

The cable network said the series is its most watched series ever.
