LOS ANGELES, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Ricky Schroder and Annie Wersching have been hired for guest spots on the U.S. superhero comedy series "No Ordinary Family," ABC said Monday.

"After Jim saves Dave Cotten's life, he and Stephanie become fast friends with Dave, his wife Michelle and their kids. But Jim begins to suspect that the Cottens may be leading their own secret lives," ABC said in a synopsis of the show's Jan. 4 episode.

"No Ordinary Family" stars Michael Chiklis as extraordinarily strong police sketch artist Jim Powell and Julie Benz as his super-fast scientist wife Stephanie. Schroder and Wersching are to play the Cottens.

Schroder is a former child star best known for his work on the 1980s sitcom "Silver Spoons" and the long-running police series "NYPD Blue." He and Wersching both appeared on the TV drama "24."
