NEW YORK, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- U.S. comedian Tracy Morgan has undergone a kidney transplant and may miss at least two episodes of his sitcom "30 Rock" while he recovers, his publicist said.

The operation performed around Dec. 10 was successful, EW.com reported Monday.

"Tracy is doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after the surgery. He is looking forward to going back to work after the holidays," said a statement issued to the entertainment news Web site by Morgan's publicist.

The 42-year-old "Saturday Night Live" alum is diabetic.
