'Talent' star to give Las Vegas Xmas show

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- The winner of "America's Got Talent" says he is coming home after a U.S. tour and will perform a special concert Sunday in Las Vegas.

The show at the Green Valley Ranch will be the first for 30-year-old Michael Grimm since he won the television contest in September followed by a nationwide tour with other contestants, the Las Vegas Sun reported.

He's named the event, "Home for the Holidays."

"And home it is," Grimm said. "I've been in Vegas for 10 years and although I'm from Mississippi, my heart is in Las Vegas. I love being here; I don't think I'll ever move."

Grimm was raised by his grandparents after his mother and father divorced and in 2000 he came to Las Vegas where he found performing work in lounges, clubs and steakhouses, the Sun said Saturday.

In 2005 he became a regular performer at Hank's Fine Steaks and Martinis at the Green Valley Ranch before taking his chance on "America's Got Talent."

His homecoming appearance will bring him a welcome respite from, what he called, the "politics" of the show and subsequent tour.

"It's a nice release," he said. "I haven't really got to get on stage and do what I do, which is sing, and this gives me the chance to go back to singing for all my fans and people who haven't heard me for a while. It's going to be nice."
