LOS ANGELES, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Don Cheadle has signed on to star in the pilot for "House of Lies," a half-hour, dark comedy, Showtime announced.
Created and written by Matthew Carnahan, the pilot is based on the book "House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time" by Martin Kihn.
The pilot is to go into production in February in Los Angeles. Jessica Borsicsky will serve as executive producer and Stephen Hopkins will direct.
"Don Cheadle is one of the great dramatic actors of our generation," Showtime President of Entertainment David Nevins said in a statement Tuesday. "He also happens to be an extremely funny man. 'House of Lies' is the perfect show to take advantage of both sides of him. Honestly, I would have been happy just to get his autograph."
Showtime describes "House of Lies" as a "subversive, scathing look at a self-loathing management consultant from a top-tier firm."
Cheadle is to star as Marty, a highly successful, cutthroat consultant never above using anyone or any means necessary to get his clients the information they want, the cable network said in a news release.
The actor's film credits include "Iron Man 2," the "Ocean's 11" trilogy, "Hotel Rwanda," "Crash,"
"Traffic," "Boogie Nights" and "Devil in a Blue Dress."
