'Gossip,' 'Grey's' up for Choice Awards

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- "Gossip Girl," "Grey's Anatomy," "House," "The Good Wife" and "The Vampire Diaries" are up for the People's Choice Award for favorite U.S. television drama.

The nominees for the fan-voted prizes were announced Tuesday in Los Angeles.

Nominated for favorite TV drama actor are Chace Crawford, Hugh Laurie, Ian Somerhalder, Patrick Dempsey and Taye Diggs.

Earning nods in the favorite TV drama actress category are Blake Lively, Julianna Margulies, Kate Walsh, Lisa Edelstein and Sandra Oh.

In the running for favorite TV comedy are "Glee," "How I Met Your Mother," "Modern Family," "The Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men."

Shortlisted for the favorite TV comedy actor honor are Alec Baldwin, Jim Parsons, Matthew Morrison, Neil Patrick Harris and Steve Carell.

Vying for the favorite TV comedy actress title are Alyson Hannigan, Courteney Cox, Eva Longoria Parker, Jane Lynch and Tina Fey.

The nominees for favorite competition show are "American Idol," "America's Got Talent," "Dancing with the Stars," "Hell's Kitchen" and "So You Think You Can Dance."

Up for favorite talk show host are Chelsea Handler, Conan O'Brien, Ellen DeGeneres, George Lopez and Oprah Winfrey.

Fans are invited to vote for the awards at http://www.peopleschoice.com.

Winners will be announced during CBS's live broadcast of the People's Choice Awards 2011 ceremony at the Nokia Theater, L.A. Live on Jan. 5.
