LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Longtime collaborators Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are to make a big-screen version of the cult TV vampire series "Dark Shadows," The Hollywood Reporter said.

The actor and director have previously worked on "Alice in Wonderland," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Corpse Bride," "Sleepy Hollow" and "Edward Scissorhands."

Burton and Depp have been talking for more than three years about making the "Dark Shadow" film. They plan to start the project in April, with Depp in the iconic role of bloodsucker Barnabas Collins, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
