LOS ANGELES, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- U.S. television actor James MacArthur died Thursday at the age of 72, a Paramount publicist confirmed.
The son of screenwriter Charles MacArthur and actress Helen Hayes was best known for playing Danno on the original "Hawaii Five-0" series for 11 years. His big-screen credits include "Swiss Family Robinson," "The Battle of the Bulge," "The Truth About Spring," "Cry of Battle," "Spencer's Mountain" and "The Interns."
EW.com said the cause of his death has not yet been announced.
A remake of "Hawaii Five-0" debuted on CBS last month with Scott Caan taking over the role of Detective Dan "Danno" Williams.
