NEW YORK, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- British actor Charles Dance has joined the cast of the upcoming 4-hour television miniseries "Neverland," Syfy said Monday.
Dance's film credits include "Alien 3," "Bleak House" and "Gosford Park."
His casting in the Syfy and Sky Movies HD's project was announced Monday by Robert Halmi Sr. of RHI Entertainment.
"Neverland," a prequel to author J.M. Barrie's classic tale "Peter Pan," is written and will be directed by Nick Willing.
Dance will play the role of Dr. Richard Fludd, a 400-year-old former alchemist to Queen Elizabeth and the genius who holds the key to the bridge between our world and Pan's Neverland, Syfy said in a synopsis.
The cast also includes Rhys Ifans, Anna Friel, Bob Hoskins, Raoul Trujillo and Charlie Rowe. Currently in production in Genoa, Italy, and Dublin, Ireland, "Neverland" is to air in 2011.
