NEW YORK, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Jon Stewart says if Rick Sanchez, fired by CNN as an anchor, really believes Jews control the media all he has to do is apologize to get his job back.

Sanchez was let go by CNN after attacking Stewart's "The Daily Show" and Jews in the media while appearing on a Sirius XM satellite radio show.

The Hollywood Reporter said Stewart brought up the firing in his monologue while hosting "Stars" at Manhattan's Beacon Theatre, which raises money for autism research. Stewart said: "If you went on radio and said the Jews control the media ... you may want to hold on to your money."

But if Sanchez is right about the Jews, Stewart said, "All he has to do is apologize to us, and we'll hire him back," the Reporter said.

Late-night host David Letterman made a surprise appearance at the event, telling Stewart he was just "helping Rick Sanchez clean out his office," the Reporter said.
