DETROIT, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- The Motor City is preparing a red-carpet premiere for "Detroit 1-8-7," the first prime-time drama produced in the city, a show representative said.

The party, scheduled for Sept. 7, is expected to showcase red carpet arrivals of the drama's stars and a special screening of the inaugural episode, the Detroit Free Press reported Monday.

"Detroit 1-8-7," starring Michael Imperioli of "The Sopranos," James McDaniel from "NYPD Blue" and Erin Cummings of "Spartacus: Blood and Sand," debuts Sept. 21 on ABC. The crime drama follows the men and women of Detroit Police Department's homicide unit.
