BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Lucas Cruikshank, known for his online alter ego Fred, will star as the character in a U.S. television movie, Nickelodeon said Monday.
Also to appear in "Fred: The Movie" are "iCarly" star Jennette McCurdy, WWE's John Cena and British pop star Pixie Lott.
It is to air Sept. 17.
"Similar to real-life teenager Lucas Cruikshank's fast-talking, hyperactive videos that have received upwards of 530 million views, the film will center on Fred's biggest adventure yet in trying to win over his unrequited love, Judy," Nickelodeon said in a news release.
"Internet comedy is a great unifier and Fred is already a mega-star with kids of all ages and genders," Marjorie Cohn, Nickelodeon's president of original programming and development, said in a statement. "While the fans will be super psyched at meeting all the regulars of Fred's world, the movie will also bring in a brand new audience who will love its unique tone."
