MacFarlane to release big band CD

BURBANK, Calif., Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Seth MacFarlane, creator of the U.S. animated series "Family Guy," says he is working on an album of big band music.

MacFarlane made the announcement on Thursday's edition of NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

"I'm working on an album actually for Universal Republic Records," MacFarlane told Leno. "I had an offer to do an actual big band album and I took it. I said yes."

When Leno asked what fans could expect, MacFarlane teased: "Swing arrangements of classic tunes. We kind of deliberately touched stuff that the Deans (Martin) and the Franks (Sinatra) and the Sammys (Davis Jr.) didn't do yet."

MacFarlane then grabbed a microphone and sang "Cream in My Coffee," backed by "The Tonight Show" band.
