Cross-country drive on 2 gallons of gas
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- A new documentary about the rock duo The White Stripes is to have its U.S. television debut on Showtime, the cable network said Monday.
"The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights" is to air Thursday night.
Showtime said the film "takes a rare, unprecedented journey along with Jack and Meg White as they traverse Canada."
The documentary captures the pair "playing at big arenas and unheard of local venues (i.e. a bowling alley, flour mill, youth center and city bus) for native audiences -- some of whom have never heard of the chart-topping band -- in provinces like British Columbia, Vancouver, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland," the network said in a news release.
The documentary, directed by Emmett Malloy, who worked on several of the band's music videos, was shot during the summer of 2007. It premiered last year at the Toronto Film Festival.
