Cross-country drive on 2 gallons of gas
SAN DIEGO, July 25 (UPI) -- Author Charlaine Harris told Comic-Con in San Diego this weekend she was on the verge of wrapping up her 11th book in her smash "Sookie Stackhouse" series.
"Maybe even tomorrow," the prolific writer said about her next installation in the vampire series that has been adapted for television on HBO's "True Blood."
She also told the panel that part of her quick turnaround of books is her aversion to long periods of research and her ability to make up a story as she goes along.
She also downplayed critics' stabs at attaching symbolism and social commentary to the adventures of her Dixie vampires. "Vampires can be symbols for everything. Sometimes a vampire is just a vampire," she said, paraphrasing Sigmund Freud.
While Harris is sticking with her blood-suckers for now, The San Diego Union-Tribune noted Sunday that Harris was also in the audience at a Comic-Con session on zombie fiction.
