LOS ANGELES, July 21 (UPI) -- Oxygen Media says it has greenlit a new U.S. docu-series called "The Aubrey O'Day Project."

The show is expected to follow the 26-year-old recording artist and former Danity Kane lead singer Aubrey O'Day as she begins the next stage of her career.

The announcement regarding the show was made Tuesday by Amy Introcaso-Davis, Oxygen's senior vice president of original programming and development.

"O'Day had it all -- fame, glamour, talent and an entourage," Oxygen said in a news release. "But her sassiness got the best of her and she was ultimately fired in the most shocking way -- on national TV during an episode of 'Making the Band' -- by her demanding boss, Diddy. Now O'Day is ready to make a comeback and stake her claim in the industry. And once again, she plans to do it with the whole world watching. But this time it's going to be different … it's going to be on her terms."

"Young women have watched the ups and downs of Aubrey through the years and they continue to cheer her on," Introcaso-Davis said in a statement. "We're excited to deliver her story as she battles the issues that resonate with our audience -- from self-doubt and body image, to an intense desire for success and redemption."
