NEW YORK, July 8 (UPI) -- Barbara Walters plans to make her first appearance on her U.S. chat show "The View" via Skype since undergoing heart surgery, ABC said.

The show's creator/executive producer and co-host is confirmed to appear on Monday's edition of the show.

This will mark Walters' first nationally televised appearance since undergoing heart valve replacement surgery in May.

The announcement was made Thursday by Bill Geddie, executive producer of "The View."

"You know how healthy I have been -- never missed a day's work," Walters told her co-stars and the audience of the show May 10. "Later this week, I am going to have surgery to replace one faulty heart valve. Lots of people have done this. I have known of this condition for a while now, and my doctors and I have decided that this is the best time to do the surgery, since the summer is coming up, I can take a nice vacation. Earlier this morning, I told my wonderful pals here, as I am now telling you, and it will be a surprise to many friends, but I thought it best not to talk about it too far in advance. I love you all."

"The View" also co-stars Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd.
