LOS ANGELES, July 7 (UPI) -- Oscar-winning actor Richard Dreyfuss has been cast in a recurring role for the sixth season of the U.S. comedy series "Weeds," Showtime said.
The star of "Jaws," "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "American Graffiti" and "The Goodbye Girl" is to appear in at least four episodes of "Weeds," the pay cable network said Wednesday.
Dreyfuss is to play an unexpected character who arrives from the past of Nancy Botwin, played by show star Mary-Louise Parker.
The new season of the show, which is about a single mom who sells marijuana to make ends meet, is slated to begin Aug. 16.
