LOS ANGELES, June 23 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Julia Stiles has joined the cast of the drama series "Dexter," Showtime said.
Stiles, who will appear in 10 episodes of the show's upcoming fifth season, will play a mysterious young woman who forms a unique relationship with Dexter, played by Michael C. Hall, in the wake of the death of his wife, the network said in a news release.
Production on Season 5 began this month. The new episodes are to premiere in the fall.
"Dexter" stars Hall as a complicated and conflicted blood-spatter expert for the Miami Police Department who moonlights as a serial killer.
Stiles's film credits include "Hamlet," "O," "Ten Things I Hate About You," "Save the Last Dance," "Mona Lisa Smile," "The Omen," and the three "Bourne" films opposite Matt Damon.
