SAVANNAH, Ga., June 9 (UPI) -- Paula Deen's former maid has been arrested for allegedly stealing $100,000 in jewelry from the celebrity chef and author's Georgia home, police said.

The Savannah (Ga.) Morning News reported Mary Alice White, 47, was arrested twice last month after she allegedly tried to sell some of the pilfered baubles at two different pawn shops.

It is unclear whether White has posted bail or was released on her own recognizance, the Morning News said.

Deen and her husband were not available for comment, the newspaper said.
