NEW YORK, June 1 (UPI) -- Andrew Koppel, the 40-year-old son of TV newsman Ted Koppel, was found dead in a Manhattan apartment, law-enforcement sources told the New York Post.
Andrew Koppel was an attorney for the New York City Housing Authority and lived in Queens with his girlfriend and baby daughter.
The Post said he was discovered unconscious in a bedroom early Monday after going on a drinking binge with a waiter he had met Sunday in a Manhattan bar.
The waiter and a friend called 911 after Koppel appeared not to be breathing.
No one has been charged in his death, the cause of which remained under investigation, the Post reported, adding Koppel has a history of alcohol abuse.
The newspaper said Ted Koppel, former anchor of ABC's "Nightline," could not be reached for comment.
