NEW YORK, May 26 (UPI) -- Former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor has agreed to speak to ABC News's George Stephanopoulos for a wide-ranging interview, the network said.

The chat is to air on Thursday's edition of "Good Morning America." It will be O'Connor's first television interview since Elena Kagan's nomination to the Supreme Court.

"In New York City for the launch of iCivics.org, an education project she is spearheading to reinvigorate civics teaching and learning in the nation's schools, Justice O'Connor will discuss this latest initiative, plus the Supreme Court, the upcoming confirmation process, and her thoughts on being the first female appointment to the court," ABC said in a release Tuesday.

O'Connor, 80, retired from the court in 2006.
