NEW YORK, May 5 (UPI) -- U.S. television personality Elisabeth Hasselbeck tearfully apologized on "The View" Wednesday for criticizing Erin Andrews' "Dancing with the Stars" costumes.

Andrews is an ESPN reporter who fell prey to a peephole stalker who posted a nude video of her online last year. The male perpetrator is now in prison.

Referring to Andrews' revealing attire on "Dancing," Hasselbeck said on "The View" Tuesday, "I mean, in some way if I'm him, I'm like, 'Man! I just could've waited 12 weeks and seen this -- a little bit less -- without the prison time!'"

Hasselbeck said on Wednesday's show she went home Tuesday regretting she had made the remark about Andrews' clothing. Hasselbeck said she even confided to her 5-year-old daughter, Gracie, that she was upset because "Mommy hurt someone's feelings," UsMagazine.com reported.

Hasselbeck then explained on Wednesday's edition of "The View" she had already called Andrews to say sorry for the barb but wanted to reiterate her apology on-air as well.
