NEW YORK, April 21 (UPI) -- British soccer star David Beckham has agreed to make his first appearance on the U.S. television chat show "The View," ABC said Wednesday.

Beckham's visit is scheduled for Monday, Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie, the show's executive producers said.

Beckham, who plays midfield for Milan, is on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy. He is currently on the mend after rupturing his Achilles' tendon.

Beckham -- who is known for his celebrity endorsements, fragrance lines and charitable work -- is married to Victoria Beckham, a fashion icon who rose to fame in the 1990s as part of the internationally successful pop group the Spice Girls.
