BOSTON, April 12 (UPI) -- Actress and author Valerie Bertinelli has confirmed she intends to run in next week's Boston Marathon.

Bertinelli, the ex-wife of rocker Eddie Van Halen, is best known for her work on the TV sitcom "One Day at a Time'' and as a celebrity spokeswoman for the weight-loss company Jenny Craig.

Despite her fame, Bertinelli, 49, told The Boston Globe she doesn't expect people to notice her running in the event.

"I've never felt famous," Bertinelli said. "I've been around. People know me."

She admitted she is not a natural athlete.

"I have a weird gait," she told the newspaper. "I don't look good when I run."

Bertinelli will soon be seen in the TV Land original series "Hot in Cleveland,'' co-starring Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and Betty White.
