NEW YORK, April 8 (UPI) -- U.S. country singer Mindy McCready admits she made a sex tape, but insists she doesn't want it made public.

Asked on TV's "Inside Edition" why she made the tape with an unidentified ex-boyfriend, the former "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" star said, "You know a lot of people do things in the privacy of their home that they would never expect to have splashed onto the fronts of papers."

McCready, who is fighting the distribution and sale of the tape, made the comment while appearing on "Inside Edition" to promote her new album "I'm Still Here."

The recording artist's career has been overshadowed in recent years by news of her addiction to drugs, multiple suicide attempts and brushes with the law.
