ATHENS, Ga., March 31 (UPI) -- "Glee," "Modern Family" and "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" will be among those honored at the upcoming 69th annual Peabody Awards in New York.

ABC "World News" anchor Diane Sawyer has signed on as host of the ceremony intended to pay tribute to 2009's best in broadcasting. It is to take place May 17 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Manhattan.

Organizers of the The George Foster Peabody Awards said Wednesday they also plan to recognize the programs "In Treatment" and "No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" by HBO; "Noodle Road: Connecting Asia's Kitchens" by the Korean Broadcasting System; "A Hidden America: Children of the Mountains" by ABC News; and "The Cost of Dying" by CBS News's "60 Minutes."

Sesame Workshop, National Public Radio and BBC World News America are expected to pick up prizes, as well.
