LOS ANGELES, March 30 (UPI) -- The U.S. mystery series "Castle" has been renewed for a third season, ABC said Tuesday.

The show stars Nathan Fillion as Richard Castle, a charming, mischievous novelist who partners with Stana Katic's character, New York Police Detective Kate Beckett, to solve crimes in the Big Apple.

TVGuide.com said ABC ordered 22 episodes for the series' third season.
