NEW YORK, March 29 (UPI) -- Retired New York Mets star Darryl Strawberry quit the reality competition show "The Celebrity Apprentice" Sunday night.

CNN said Strawberry complained he was exhausted and wanted to be fired by star and producer Donald Trump, who then obliged.

The former baseball player and other celebrities are competing on "Apprentice" with the winner to raise money for the charity of his or her choice.

Strawberry had been playing for an autism organization.

Still in the running to be crowned Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice" are Bret Michaels, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Johnson, Rod Blagojevich, Summer Sanders, Selita Ebanks, Maria Kanellis, Curtis Stone, Bill Goldberg, Sharon Osborne and Holly Robinson Peete.

Carol Leifer was the first celebrity fired on this season's edition of "Apprentice" and Sinbad was the second to go.

Joan Rivers won the competition last year.
