SAN DIEGO, March 26 (UPI) -- The California Highway Patrol says David "Puck" Rainey was arrested on charges of driving under the influence after he was seriously hurt in a car crash.
Rainey, who starred in "Real World: San Francisco" in 1994 and subsequent "Real World" specials, is hospitalized in San Diego and expected to remain there for at least another week.
He reportedly broke bones in his neck, feet and hand, and fractured his sternum and clavicle in the March 19 wreck.
Rainey's 8-year-old son also suffered some minor injuries when the car slid down an embankment and landed upside-down in a creek. The child was treated for his injuries at a hospital and has since been released.
"Due to his level of intoxication, (Rainey) was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway," Brian Pennings, a highway patrol spokesman, told TVGuide.com Wednesday. "He was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, however, he remains in the hospital due to his medical condition ... . He will be facing charges of DUI, child endangerment and driving without a license."
