LOS ANGELES, March 16 (UPI) -- Italian actress and television personality Elisabetta Canalis has signed on to appear in five episodes of the U.S. drama series "Leverage," TNT said.

Canalis is perhaps best known to American audiences as actor George Clooney's current girlfriend.

During her guest starring stint on Season 3 of "Leverage" this summer, she will play a mysterious character known only as "The Italian," the network said.

"Leverage" is about a gang of con artists who exact revenge against those who use power and wealth to victimize people. The show stars Timothy Hutton, Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, Aldis Hodge and Beth Riesgraf.
