NEW YORK, March 14 (UPI) -- The 21st annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York named ABC's "Brothers and Sisters" as best TV drama series and celebrated the Broadway revival of "Hair."
Joy Behar won an Excellence in Media Award for the CNN Headline News TV show bearing her name and actress Cynthia Nixon won the Vito Russo Award for her support for same-sex marriage during the Saturday night ceremony, The Hollywood Reporter said.
The award for outstanding TV movie or miniseries went to Lifetime's "Prayers for Bobby" while CNN won outstanding TV journalism segment for its "American Morning" report called "Why Will Won't Pledge Allegiance." ABC's "One Life to Live" won the daytime drama award and "Little Ashes" was honored in the limited release film category.
An NBC "Parks and Recreation" episode titled "Pawness Zoo" won an award as did "The Oprah Winfrey Show" episode called "Ellen DeGeneres and Her Wife, Portia de Rossi."
Ceremonies to present more awards are scheduled for April 17 in Los Angeles and June 5 in San Francisco.
