LOS ANGELES, March 8 (UPI) -- Brooke Burke, the winner of Season 7 of "Dancing with the Stars," is to serve as co-host of the U.S. dance competition series, ABC announced.

People.com said the decision was revealed Monday on the network's "Good Morning America" program.

"Dancing" co-host Samantha Harris announced last January she was leaving the popular show.

Burke is expected to replace her and work alongside co-host Tom Bergeron when the series returns for its 10th season March 22.

Burke previously served as host of the reality series "Wild On," "Rock Star: INXS" and "Rock Star: Supernova."

"She'll be able to talk to the couples backstage with the perspective of having been there herself," People.com quoted Bergeron as saying when he made the announcement on "GMA" about her hiring.
